A 50-year-old man Ogbonna Okoro has been remanded at the Ikoyi correctional centre after being charged to court for allegedly stealing a law book from his employer.
Okoro, a security guard at the law firm was said to have stolen the book titled “Criminal Law Book” valued at N100,000 belonging to his employer, Barrister M.U Adeshina on August 28, 2024. He was arrested by the Police at the Lion Building division, Campbell Street, Lagos Island and charged before a Lagos Magistratesā Court for allegedly stealing. an offence, punishable under section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State,2015.
The Police alleged that the complainant directed the defendant to assist in loading legal documents inside a vehicle and that during the loading of the documents, the defendant allegedly stole a parcel of the Criminal Law Book and other sensitive documents and hid it.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge and Magistrate B. A Sonuga granted him N100,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
Sonuga adjourned the case and ordered that the defendant be detained at the Ikoyi correctional facility till he perfected the bail conditions.
