Super Eagles top striker was all smiles Wednesday after he signed a season long loan deal with Turkish side Galatasaray.
Osimhen who is expected to join the Super Eagles camp for the African Cup of Nations qualifier against Benin Republic and Rwanda will have his first feel of Turkish league when Galatasaray host Rizespor in the Turkish Super Lig on September 14.
Gala came as a relief for Osimhen after he was dropped from Napoli first team in the wake of the double transfer offers by Chelsea and Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia deals, which failed on deadline day.
However, there’s an option for Osimhen to leave Galatasaray in the January transfer if a club activates his release clause, which will now be reduced to €75m. Arsenal and Chelsea are reported to be still eyeing the player.
Osimhen established a reputation as one of European football’s hottest strikers when he won the Serie A golden boot as Napoli claimed their first Scudetto for 33 years in 2022/23.
He scored 15 league goals in an injury-hit year last season but failed to replicate his form of the year before as Napoli plummeted to a 10th-place finish in a disappointing title defence.
