Department of State Service has let go Nigeria Labour Congress president Joe Ajaero after holding him for 24 hours.
Mr. Ajaero according to the NLC, was released early Tuesday morning. He was arrested Monday morning at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja while preparing to board a plane to the United Kingdom (UK) for an official assignment.
” NLC president, Comrade Joe Ajaero released from DSS detention.
The struggle continues, we can’t be silenced,” the NLC announced on its X page.
The NLC had given the FG up till Monday midnight to release Mr. Ajaero. The union planned a meeting for Tuesday to mobilise affiliates to embark on a nationwide strike, if Mr. Ajaero was not released.
The NLC warned the federal government to be prepared for strike action if they failed to revert to N617 per litre price of petrol. It also called for the swift implementation of the newly signed national minimum wage.
