The Super Eagles landed in Abuja Wednesday evening from Kigali where they were held to a draw by Rwanda’s Amavubi in their group D African Cup of Nations qualifier.
And coach Austin Eguavoen was greeted with online reports of him quitting the job. Nigeria Football Federation director of communications Ademola Olajire, said coach Eguavoen was surprised by the reports adding that the former Super Eagles 1994 AFCON winning defender will continue in the role till the coaching situation of the national team is resolved.
“He remains with the team and his is an employee of the NFF which has drafted him to the Super Eagles. He remains there until the federation takes another decision.
“He was surprised when we landed from our Kigali trip and I showed the trending news on the social media.”
The Super Eagles will tackle Libya next month in the AFCON qualifiers. They currently top group D with four points from two games.
