US-born coach Danny Waldrum said he will not continue as the Super Falcons manager going forward.
In a letter to the Nigeria Football Federation, Waldrum who led the Super Falcons to a round of 16 finish at the 2023 FIFA Women World Cup in Australia and the 2024 Olympics in France revealed that he is leaving the post to attend to his wife’s health challenges.
“It’s been a very difficult few weeks following the Olympics, with my wife’s health issues, and the worries that obviously come with that,” Waldrum’s letter to the NFF stated.
“After much thought and consideration, I am hereby resigning my position as Head Coach of the Super Falcons.
“This will allow the NFF ample time to find the next manager to take over this incredible squad.”
However, it was gathered that his contract expired with the Super Falcons’last group C game of the Olympics women football event. It was up to the NFF to renew, but the Federation will now start searching for a new coach for the nine times African Champions.
