High ranking member of the Delta State House of Assembly Austin Uroye said it was a miracle his wife Christy survived a kidnapped attempted, which left one his aide and two police officers dead.
Hon. Uroye who is still reeling from the September 2, 2024 attack, which occurred in Warri, said it was frightening what is currently happening in the country and government at all levels must rise up to the challenges.
His wife who was returning home from a function had stopped by the road side at Jakpa road by Okoloba junction Warri to buy some bread, when gunmen emerged from an SUV and opened fire on her car, her driver and the two police details were hit and died on the spot. Mrs. Uroye was also hit by the bullets one which penetrated her stomach and made an exit, while another completely shattered her elbow.
Still not done the gunmen dragged her into their get away SUV, but along the way they crashed into a ditch. Mrs. Uroye was rescued and rush to the hospital.
“It’s devine intervention, it’s a miracle my wife is still alive,” Hon Uroye said.
“It was a traumatic experience the family is still dealing with and it is a scary situation out there.
“The level of insecurity is alarming, this is primarily a result of economic hardships, people are hungry, youths are getting restless every day.”
