Despite tough challenge posed by Lagos and Edo, Delta State held on to it’s number position of the National Youth Games concluded Thursday in Asaba.
After one week of contest amidst allegations and counter allegations of age-cheat the Games came to a fitting end with Delta raking in 111 medals… 46 gold, 31 Silver and 34 bronze. Lagos State won 65 medals…26 gold, 20 silver and 19 bronze,while Edo collected 59 medals… 18 gold,13 silver and 28 bronze.
The final day event featured the
400x 100 mixed relay won by Edo state with a time of 45.32secs. Delta came out second with the silver medal, 4x400m girls was won by Delta with a time of 3,34.15secs, Edo 2nd with silver,while Cross Rivers took the bronze at third position, and the 4x400m meters boys, was won by Delta with a time of 3,20.83 secs, while Abia came 2nd with the silver medal and Ogun state collected the bronze medal at 3rd position.
