Florence Otedola a.k.a DJ Cuppy, made history as the first Nigerian to host an opening session at the United Nations General Assembly, UNGA.
Cuppy moderated the Youth Action Day at the 2024, UNGA, themed “The Summit of the Future – Youth Actions Day.”
Cuppy’s session was the largest youth gathering in UN Headquarters history. As an advocate for youth opportunities, Cuppy has inspired millions through her voice and platform. Her foundation educates, empowers, and mobilizes young people for a sustainable, inclusive, and unified world.
During the session, Cuppy hinted at future ambitions, suggesting she might become Nigeria’s first female president. UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina J. Mohammed responded, “You told me you wanted to be Nigeria’s first female president, and what did I say? After me.”
Cuppy’s aspirations, alongside Amina’s encouragement, symbolize growing momentum behind women’s leadership in Nigeria. Cuppy echoed Amina’s message, urging youth to raise their voices against global challenges.
Her session became the largest youth gathering in UN Headquarters history.
Other personalities at the session include the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Youth Affairs and the president of Cape Verde, José Maria Neves.
