Ahead of the Super Eagles African Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya, top striker, Victor Osimhen has dismissed fears that he picked up an injury in last weekend’s Turkish Super Lig clash between his club Galatasaray and Kasimpasa.
Kasimpasa featuring Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omueruo fought back to draw the game at 3-3 and Osimhen who was substituted at half-time scored his first two goals for Galatasaray at the Ali Sami Yen Spor Kompleksi RAMS Park.
“I do not have a serious injury. I felt a little discomfort. I thought I should tell my coach,” Osimhen said on Galatasaray’s official website.
“If I reduced the team, it would be bad. I did not want my other teammates’ performance to decrease. I told Mauro and the coach. That is why I left the game.”
The 25-year-old is expected to be included in the Nigeria squad that will face Libya in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers next month.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that Osimhen’s loan contract with Gala has a €90m release clause for a permanent move during the January transfer window.
RAI Sport journalist Ciro Venerato, via Corriere Azzurro, claims that a separate €90m clause allows Osimhen to leave Napoli in January, although it is not valid for Serie A clubs.
However, Osimhen and Galatasaray has ruled any move in January.
