Iran Tuesday fired about 200 missiles at Israel in response to the killings of senior leaders of Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran’s Revolutionary Guard.
Iran’s missile attack came after another round of Israeli airstrikes on the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
Security sources told the Reuters news agency two separate attacks were carried out, and a high-rise building in the Jnah area was hit.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) later claimed a strike had killed Muhammad Jaafar Qasir, the commander in charge of weapons transfers from Iran and its affiliates to Hezbollah.
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has again called for a ceasefire in the Middle East:
“I condemn the broadening of the Middle East conflict with escalation after escalation. This must stop. We absolutely need a ceasefire.”
Meanwhile six people have been killed and nine wounded in a suspected shooting and stabbing terror attack in Tel Aviv, Israeli police have said.
They said that two “terrorists” started a killing spree on the Tel Aviv light rail and continued on foot before being killed by civilians and inspectors using personal pistols.
The attack took place minutes before Iran began firing missiles at Israel. It’s unclear if there is any connection.
