Super Eagles coach Augustine Eguavoen said Tuesday that he would miss top striker Victor Osimhen for Friday’s African Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya in Uyo, Akwa Ibom.
Though Eguaveon acknowledged that he has full confidence in his other strikers like Victor Boniface, Taiwo Awoniyi and Kelechi Iheanacho, having Osimhen was always a bonus.
“It’s a collective effort, it’s a team sport not individual sport,” Eguavoen told NFF TV.
“But we are going to miss Osimhen. We are in touch, we all know how important and impactful Osimhen can be, but we have other players who can step into his shoes.
“He’s not here physically but I am one hundred percent sure he’s here spiritually with us.”
Osimhen who is out injured sends his love to the team: ” My spirit is there with you guys. Win win win Big Boyz Naija.” Osimhen will travel to Uyo to cheer the team. He arrived in Lagos Tuesday
Some of the players who trained Tuesday include Stanley Nwabali, Maduka Okoye, captain William Troost-Ekong, Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka, Raphael Onyedika, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Victor Boniface, Samuel Chukwueze, Benjamin Tanimu, Calvin Bassey, Semi Ajayi, Ademola Lookman, Bruno Onyemaechi, Taiwo Awoniyi, Alex Iwobi, Moses Simon, Alhassan Yusuf and Ola Aina
