Nigeria Football Federation are pressing the Libyan authorities to allow their Valuejet aircraft to refuel and given clearance to fly the Super Eagles back to Nigeria from the Al Abaq airport, where the team had been abandoned for 15 hours after landing on Sunday.
Having been advised by the team doctors that the players are too fatigued to play the game the NFF began the process of evacuating the team from the hostile Libyans who tried to play nice after putting the Super Eagles, their officials, supporters including Edo State deputy governor Philip Shaibu through a nightmare.
A bus arrived to evacuate the team to Benghazi Monday afternoon, but the players have already made their feelings about not playing the match known.
“We have been here for 15 hours and now we are trying to refuel and travel back to Nigeria
“We are going to write a formal letter to CAF for this match to be postpone or reschedule for another,” said one of the accompanying officials.
