Athletes across the country including local fun runners have started to register their names for the Warri/Effurun Peace Marathon billed for November 30, 2024, as preparations gather speed.
The organisers who are tying up all the loose ends for the 10km race, which has attracted the best of Nigerian long distance running say, they are expecting mass participation from the Warri and Effurun environs.
“As usual we are expecting the elite Nigerian runners and the local runners as well.
“We are looking forward to see a larger turnout and to this end we have been talking to the local governments officials and the stakeholders to ensure total mobilisation of Delta citizens to participate.
“It is meant to be a celebration of keep fit,” said Mrs. Joyce Bozimo the chief organiser of the race.
Students from secondary schools and higher institutions as well as corporate concerns in the locality are expected to present teams in the event.
