Fans and family of Liam Payne a member of the British boyband ‘One Direction’ are in shock as the singer jumped to his death in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Payne had been staying at the four star CasaSur Parlemo hotel where he became aggressively disturbed Wednesday evening. Hotel staff called for police assistant to control Payne who was reported to be intoxicated and was smashing up his room.
But before help arrived, he fell off the third floor of the hotel room and died at the scene.
Pablo Policicchio, communications director for the Buenos Aires Security Ministry, said in a statement to The Associated Press that Payne “had jumped from the balcony of his room.”
Payne is survive by a seven years old son who he shares with former Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole.
One Direction was put together by producer Simon Cowell after he saw Payne and four other talented young men – Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan – audition for the UK’s version of “The X-Factor.”
