The police in Yobe State have arrested a 54-years-old female gunrunner while trafficking ammunitions from Buni Yadi to Damaturu.
The suspect identified as Hamsatu Modu who hails from Morami, a village in Jakana, Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.
Speaking on the arrest Monday Yobe State police spokesperson Dungus Abdulkarim, said Hamsatu Modu was arrested Sunday, October 20, 2024, at approximately 6:30pm, following the receipt of reliable intelligence at the ‘A’ Divisional Police Headquarters in Damaturu concerning the alleged gunrunner.
“The Command has successfully apprehended Hamsatu Modu, 54, of Morami Village, Jakana Konduga LGA, Borno State, for trafficking ammunition from Buni Yadi to Damaturu.
“On October 20, 2024, at about 1830 hours, ‘A’ Divisional Police Headquarters, Damaturu, received credible intelligence regarding a suspected gunrunner en route to Damaturu. Swift action led to the interception of a Golf 3 saloon car, and a thorough search revealed 350 rounds of live 7.62×39 MM ammunition concealed in the suspect’s luggage,” the police statement reads.
