Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar made a public apology to Senior Pastor and General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International Apostle Johnson Suleman, whom she had accused of having a salacious romance with.
Abubakar made the allegations in a social media post in 2022, prompting the Apostle to file a defamation suit at the Federal High Court in Abuja. Halima Abubakar doubled down in 2023 claiming she had three pregnancies for Suleman. She could not prove her case in Court. In April 2024 the court ruled that she make a public apology and pay N10 million in damages.
“I admit that I made false allegations against you and also regret my actions and the damage I caused to you, your wife, Dr Mrs Lizzy Suleiman, your family, and the leaders of Omega Fire Ministries. With this letter, I humbly ask for your forgiveness, recognising that my apology cannot undo the harm, pain, and distress I caused.
“I ask you to find a place in your heart to forgive me, as I was not thinking clearly at that time. Sir, you have done a lot for humanity; please extend your hands of forgiveness to me,” Halima Abubakar wrote.
In a terse statement on X.com on Wednesday, Suleman said, “You all stop calling my phone. Forgiveness is not memory loss! Status quo maintained!”
