Confederation of Africa Football is set to make its finds public on the abandoned Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Libya and Nigeria, which was boycotted by the Super Eagles after they were treated to a nightmarish ordeal in Libya.
Both countries presented their cases before CAF on Wednesday and according to former Nigeria Football Federation president and FIFA Council member Amaju Pinnick, the continental soccer ruling body is set to make its feelings known about the incident, it described as unacceptable.
The Super Eagles air plan was diverted by the Libyans to the Al Abraq Airport, which was 300km away from Beine near Benghazi. They were originally cleared to land in Benghazi airport, but they were dangerously made to land in the under utilised airport where they were locked in for more than 15 hours with food and water by their hosts.
“CAF is taking this issue very seriously,” Mr. Pinnick said on Arise TV
“We deliberated on it in our executive committee meeting. It was a subject of intense discussion.
“We pointed out the fact that this is very serious because anything could have happened (to the Super Eagles).
“So, CAF are taking the matter seriously and we’re not leaving any stone unturned.”
