Afrobeats singer and song writer Inetimi Alfred Odom a.k.a Timaya said late gospel singer Evelyn Irikefe Don Momoh a.k.a Kefee was one of the best singers he ever met.
Timaya and Kefee teamed up to make the hit song “Kokoroko” but in 2014 she Kefee also known as the “Branama Queen” tragically died in 2014 after taking ill on a flight to the USA.
“Kefee can sing. I miss her to this day. God rest her soul,” Timaya said.
He recalled how they made “Kokoroko.”
“I tell people this story to this day.. there are two people I have done a song with and made me go “wow”. One is Buju and the other is Kefee.
“It will amaze you how we made our hit song KOKOROKO. We were in the studio together and I was about to head to the airport, she held my hand and said, ‘Timaya just wait. Let me record my own part’. I told her, ‘Kefee, na now you want make we do this thing? I get flight to catch o’.
“Kefee just entered the studio and started recording. When they played what she recorded to me, I no go lie you I had to cancel my flight. That was how we made our hit KOKOROKO.”
