Seun Kuti seems to have stirred the hornet’s nest with his broad remarks to Aisha Yesufu, to remove her ‘Hijab’ before campaigning for women’s liberation.
Mrs. Yesufu a human rights advocate and Bring Back Our Girls Movement, fired back Saturday at the Afrobeat musician whose father Fela Anikulapo Kuti married 27 women at a go, and was known for his anti-establishment behavior.
“Seun Kuti wants to trend with my name as his karaoke business no make him blow alongside those wey dey do music,” Mrs. Yesufu posted on her X page.
“I don’t blame him! If only his father had discipline over his loin we wouldn’t be dealing with the consequences of that lack of discipline!
“Person wey people dey book im show because dem wan see a caricature of his father even if they can’t have the real thing.”
Seun Kuti who was airing his views on women liberation during a TV interview had said: “It’s the Africanness in us that is helping your European behaviour. That is why Aisha Yesufu and I engaged in an argument on TV, she wan dey talk anyhow, and I told her father off.
“Once you are a Christian or Muslim, you have abandoned Africanness. That one tied hijab saying she wanted to liberate Nigerian women. M**herf**ker liberates yourself from your Hijab first.”
