Ghanaian music icon Shatta Wale has urged his countrymen and women in the music scene to take notes from their Nigerian counterparts who rake in millions of dollars from their music shows abroad.
Shatta Wale said Ghanaian stars earn “Chicken Change” and are happy about it while the likes of Burna Boy, Rema, Wizkid and Davido are making appearance for as much as $1m
“Burna Boy, Davido, Wizkid, and Rema are going abroad to do shows for $1 million, while my own Ghanaian brothers (Stonebwoy, BlvckSherif) are traveling to America to do shows for $5k (about 10 million Naira).
“Instead of traveling out just to do shows for “chicken change”, we better stay here in Ghana, buy a notebook, and take notes from Nigerians. We need to learn from Nigeria.”
Nigerian acts currently dominate the continent with their Afrobeats genre.
