Alexender Isak’s 12th minute headed goal from an Anthony Gordon assist was all Newcastle needed to collect all three points from Arsenal at St James Park on Saturday.
It was Newcastle’s first win in six Premier League games.
Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta admitted that it was a frustrating match, his side deserved to lose, but the defeat is not the end of their title hopes.
“I am very frustrated, we deserved to lose,” Arteta said
“We got dragged into the game Newcastle wanted and not the one we wanted. But you have to be at your best in every game to give you a chance to win.”
The Gunners are now fourth placed on the table.
“After 10 games we are not going to find the answer now.
“It is not about winning the title; it is about being our best version every week. We have to put it right on Wednesday.”
Arsenal play Inter Milan at the San Siro Wednesday in the Champions League.
