Transgender and social media figure Idris Okuneye a.k.a Bobrisky has flown out of the country to an unknown destination.
He was released from detention on Saturday after he was arrested by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission agents at the Muritala Mohammed Airport in Lagos.
Bobrisky announced on his Instagram on Monday that he has bout tickets and was on his way out. He had attempted to travel out of the country on two occasions. In October he was arrested at the Benin Republic Nigeria border by Immigration officials and last week he was plucked out of plane heading to London by the EFCC agents.
“Yes, I’m here to confirm I’m out of Nigeria temporarily. I need to attend to my sanity and my health,” he wrote in a post on Instagram on Monday.
“Few Nigerian security agencies tried everything to frustrate me, but naaa, I gat God.”
“Imagine buying a business class ticket three times; only one was successful. KLM, I hope you guys refund me the two I didn’t use. I know it’s not your fault, but it’s fine.
“Each business class cost me 9.800,000. I only successfully flew yesterday, 3/11/2024.
“Before you come to my page to type nonsense, check your account balance if you can afford three business seats, not to talk of buying it three times. Well, I’m not in Nigeria, so your comment means nothing.”
Explaining reason for his arrest last Friday EFCC spokesperson Mr Dele Oyewale, said Bobrisky was arrested because he refused to honour an invitation sent to him.
“We arrested him and took him to Abuja because our team investigators are in Abuja.
“He was trying to run away from mentioning those he said collected bribe from him. We have sent him invitation, but he refused to honour our invitation, and he was trying to leave the country.
“This was why we arrested him. We want him to come and mention the names of the official involved in the bribery, but he has not shown up.”
A voice note shared by social critic Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, alleged that Bobrisky had paid EFCC officials N15 million to have money laundering charges against him dropped.
