Nigeria Veteran Wrestlers Association members Thursday paid a courtesy visit
on the National Sports Commission chairman Shehu Dikko at his MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja office to show their solidarity with his appointment recently by President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking on behalf of the Nigeria Veteran Wrestlers Association, Philip Momoh Who is the financial secretary of the association said President Tinubu’s choice of Shehu Dikko as NSC chairman was a timely move that will boost Nigerian sports considering his
wealth of experience and pedigree.
He said: “The Nigeria Veteran Wrestlers Association is extremely grateful to
president Bola Ahmed Tinubu for giving us a trusted and tested personality like Dikko.
“He is a technocrat who can fix the problems facing our sports and also raise it’s standards. We are here to give you our maximum support. As past top wrestlers,
we know what to what to do and how to achieve the needed result.”
He called on Mr. Dikko to back their desire of seeing one of their own Morris Atula become president of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation.
“Morris Atula is a true technocrat and a team player who will mobilise
reputable past and present top wrestlers to revive Nigerian Wrestling. Atula surely
knows what it takes to produce a world beater. He is a Technocrat to the core.” Mr Momoh stated.
