Despite being on the pitch for most of the game striker Victor Boniface fired blanks against Rwanda’s Amavubi in Monday Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
It is now 11 games and no goals to show for for the Bayer Leverkusen top scorer with six goals from eight games so far this season. Two chances came his way, but he couldn’t find the net, one particularly disappointing fluff was having space to shoot at goal in the 84th minute but shot wide over the bar. Boniface himself was disappointed with his effort, he cast a frustrated figure as he left the pitch after being replaced late in the match by Sadiq Umar.
However, Boniface believes the goals will come: “I don’t need to prove anything to anybody; but of course, as a football player, I want to improve, I want to do more for myself.”
