Former AC Milan coach Fabio Capello warned Arsenal great Patrick Vieira that getting immediate result at Genoa should be his priority.
Vieria who played for Capello at Milan before joining Arsenal in 1996 was confirmed Genoa coach Wednesday morning by the club fighting for Serie A survival.
“It’s a guy I knew when he was very young in Milan, and we reunited at Juventus [ten years later] when he was a well-known champion. He’s always been intelligent and polite,” said the ex-Italian coach.
“I demanded his signing in 2005 [at Juventus] to create a super midfield partnership with Emerson.
“I met Vieira while he was on the Crystal Palace bench. He did well in the first season.
“He comes from the Arsene Wenger and Arsenal’s school. That’s his idea of football.
“When you join a new club midseason, the advice is to avoid confusion in the players’ minds, at least at the beginning. Given the Rossoblu’s situation, he should get results right away.”
After his Arsenal in 2005, he joined Capello again at Juventus and then Inter Milan in 2006. He began his coaching career at Manchester City Academy and moved on to club management starting with New York City, Nice, Crystal Palace and Strasbourg, which he left in July.
He would be reuniting with mercurial Mario Balotelli whom he played with at Man City and coached at Nice.
