Brazil and Real Madrid star player Vinicius Junior said discovering his Cameroonian roots was very special to him and his family.
Before their World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay Tuesday night, Vini was presented with DNA test results which traced his origins to the Tikar tribe in Central and Western Cameroon. The ethnic group are said to have migrated from Northern Nigeria.
The Brazilian Football Federation in collaboration with AfricanAncestry.com organised the event In commemoration of Black Consciousness Day.
“Discovering that my roots are in Cameroon is a very special moment for me and my family,” said Vinicius. “It reminds me that our origins and history are invaluable.”
