Manchester City floundered again playing a 3-3 draw against Fayenoord at Tuesday night’s Champions League tie at the Etihad Stadium.
City thought they had banish their miserable run of form losing five games in a row, when they went 3-0 ahead with Erling Haaland scoring twice and Ilkay Gundogan adding one, but in the second half they squandered the three goal lead.
Anis Hadj-Moussa, Santiago Gimenez and David Hancko each scored for Fayenoord to stun City and their fans.
Speaking on City’s woeful outing defender Nathan Ake lamented: “It is difficult to say. Obviously we have not been in this situation many times but this is where we have to show our character.
“When everything seems to go against us and everyone is writing us off, we have to stay strong mentally, believe in ourselves and stick together.
“Every season there is a period when they write us off. We have to make sure we stay strong as a team and staff and make sure we get out of it.”
City will play against Liverpool at the weekend.
