Miss Universe runner-up Chidimma Adetshina has knocked Donald Trump Jr. over his post on social media that the right girl won the contest.
Adetshina who represented Nigeria at the November 16 pageant in Mexico was an audience favourite, but ultimately Miss Denmark, Victoria Kjaer Theilvig was crowned Miss Universe.
Taking to X the son of the US President-elect Donald Trump stated: “Biological & objectively attractive women are allowed to win beauty pageants again. WE ARE SO BACK.”
Reacting to the jibe Adetshina said Trump Jr. was disrespectful to all other women who had participated in the contest.
“All the queens that were crowned are so beautiful in their own different ways, so for him to make a comment like that, I feel like he was disregarding all the past queens,” Adetshina told Business Insider.
“I can understand why people didn’t really like a comment like that and why it was causing a spark on social media.”
However, Adetshina said she is not offended by Miss Universe CEO Anneta Konstantinides saying Victoria Kjaer Theilvig’s blond hair and blue eyes was the perfect ‘ultimate evolution’ for the pageant.
Though Miss Konstantinides was criticised for her comments, Adetshina said: “I’m not really offended by it. Maybe that’s just her perspective; maybe that’s how she felt about the evolution of Miss Universe.”
