Super Eagles players Ademola Lookman and William Troost-Ekong failed to make the final list of the 2024 FIFPRO Men’s World XI after being nominated earlier in the year.
Lookman and Troost-Ekong, however, still have their chance to put their hands on a football honour in the CAF African player of the Year Award.
The list is dominated by European players with old timers a rivals Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi featuring. The team selected by professional footballers worldwide is based on performances over the past year.
FIFPRO, the global players’ union, gathers votes from more than 28,000 professionals across 70 nations. Players are tasked with selecting their top three goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and forwards from an initial list of 250 candidates.
