Athletics Federation of Nigeria president Tonobok Okowa has sent words of comfort to long jumper Ese Brume who was involved in a near fatal car crash in the USA during the week.
Brume who was traveling with a companion in a car was rammed into by a fast moving SUV, leaving her with multiple injuries.
Okowa said that he and AFN board were taken aback by the incident and are praying for a speedy recovery for Brume who is aiming to win the 2025 World Championships gold.
He said: “We as a Federation were shocked to learn of the car crash that will keep Ese Brume away from the track for some time.
“We are with her during this difficult and challenging times and we shall equally support her to get on the track again as soon as possible.”
He added that AFN performance director Victor Okorie will be monitoring her march to recovery.
“Our Performance Director Victor Okorie, will be updating the Federation on her progress and on our part we shall keep the National Sports Commission (NSC), up to speed with her condition, needs and support.”
