British politician of Nigerian descent Kemi Badenoch at the weekend again made jibes about her Nigerian roots.
This time around she took aim at the Nigeria Police who she described as robbers. She threw mud at the Nigeria police while speaking in a podcast chat with Bari Weiss, editor of The Free Press.
“You know, the police in Nigeria would rob us. So, when people say, I had this bad experience with the police because I’m black and they’re white, I was like, well. You know, I remember the police stole my brother’s shoes and his watch.
“They took his shoes and his watch. It’s a very poor country. So, people do all sorts of things.”
She also in another interview touched her ethnicity saying she is a Yoruba woman and no connection especially with people from the north.
“I have nothing in common with the people from the north of the country, the Boko Haram where Islamism is.
“Being Yoruba is my true identity, and I refuse to be lumped with northern people of Nigeria, who ‘were our ethnic enemies,’ all in the name of being called a Nigerian,” she stated.
In a previous remark Badenoch had chastised Nigerian politicians whom he accused of help themselves to the country’s resources. And that got Vice President Kassim Shettima talking.
And Badenoch the first black woman to become the leader of a major political in the UK.
