Three policemen and a female suspect they arrested were Friday crushed to death by a truck that lost control in Ore, Odigbo Local government area of Ondo State.
The three policemen were said to have left Akure, the Ondo State capital to arrest the suspect in Ore and on their way back the truck, which was descending the Ore flyover lost control and rammed into the vehicle carrying the policemen and the suspect.
Eyewitness account said the victims died on the spot, while a fourth policeman was rushed to an undisclosed hospital with life threatening injuries.
“We heavy the loud noise of the crash and everyone rushed to the scene, ” said the eyewitness.
“On getting to the scene we realised that the occupants were policemen. Three of them died on the spot, and one sustained injuries.
“The one that sustained injuries was rushed to the hospital. It was later that we had information that the lady that also died in the accident was a suspect who the police officers had come to arrest from Akure.”
Ondo State police spokesperson Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed the incident, stating that the police would make their finds known in due course.
