Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca admitted that his side didn’t have the credentials of winning the Premier League title after Chelsea fell to a 2-1 shock defeat by Fulham at Stamford Bridge.
The loss was coming against the backdrop of nine games unbeaten run. Cole Palmer gave Chelsea the lead in the first half, but they surrendered the as Fulham scored two late goals to seal the win.
Chelsea remain on 35 points and they have now handed Liverpool a golden opportunity to extend their lead atop the Premier League table.
“I think it’s just a game that unfortunately we lost. Now it is just a matter of recovering energy and go again in three days,” Maresca said.
“I said many times not because we win or lose a game that we are ready or not ready.
“It is the feeling we have inside. The reality for us. This is the reason why the best thing we can do is just focus on game by game and see the things we need to improve.”
