Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has told Liverpool he would not renew his contract, which expires in 2025.
Alexander-Arnold according to reports is eyeing a move to Real Madrid, even as Liverpool are still keen to keep him and have made efforts to extend his deal with the club.
Real Madrid on the other hand are looking to replace right-back Dani Carvajal who suffered a damaging knee injury and they see the 26-year-old Alexander-Arnold as a good replacement. Real Madrid wanted to make a deal in January, but Liverpool are unwilling to let go and hope to convince the player with a tempting offer.
But it seems Alexender-Arnold has his mind made up and he is keen to link up with close friend and England team-mate Jude Bellingham.
Liverpool may now move quickly to resolve the contract situations of Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk who will be out of deal in the summer. Their contracts renewals have been sorted out yet and that means any of them could begin negotiations over a move elsewhere from Wednesday next week.
