Proceedings were brought to a temporary halt at the Ghana Parliament when President Nana Akufo-Addo’s aide-de-camp collapsed, during his State of Nation address Friday.
The ADC, a Brigadier General in the Ghana Armed Forces, dropped down midway into Mr. Akufo-Addo’s address leaving Ghanaian Parliamentarians reeling with shock. However, he was helped back on his feet and given medical attention at the corner of the auditorium.
The aide-de-camp of the Vice President, a police officer immediately took over to stand behind the president. Akufo-Addo was making his last State of the nation address before handing over to President-elect John Mahama in January.
Meanwhile a member of Parliament Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor slammed President Akufo-Addo who continued with his speech with any mention of his ADC’s predicament. Mr. Dafeamekpor writing on his X also faulted the medical response to the collapsed officer.
