A mother of one child identified as Ifeoluwa Adekalu has been hit and killed by a stray bullet fired by a policeman celebrating the promotion of his colleague.
The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon in Ado Ekiti when Miss Ifeoluwa Adekalu was returning from where she had gone to pay for an accommodation as she passed by the Okela police post, she was hit by the bullet fired by the policeman attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Ekiti State Command.
The young mother who worked as petrol station attendant and also worked another job in a hotel was rushed to the Hospital but died from her wounds.
The Ekiti State Police Commissioner, Adewale Adeniran confirmed incident and added that suspect has also been detained. He said the officer will face interrogations in line with Nigerian Police Act.
The Ekiti Police Command is said to have been making arrangements to take the Corpse to her parents in Ondo State any moment from now in preparation for her burial.
