Ghanaians from all walks of life watched as Mr. John Mahama was sworn in as President of the country Tuesday at the Black Star Square in Accra.
The country has endured eight years of economic misfortunes under the reign of Nana Akufo-Ado and now citizens expect Mahama who is returning to the seat for the second time in eight years to perform magic and restore the country to prosperity.
“Today should mark the opportunity to reset our country,” the 66-year-old Mahama said in his speech.
Mahama was sworn alongside the country’s first female Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang by the Chief Justice of Ghana Gertrude Torkornoo.
A host of African leaders including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Nigeria, Senegal’s Bassirou Diomaye Faye, Burkina Faso’s leader Ibrahim Traore, Kenyan President William Ruto, President Felix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo and Gabon’s Brice Oligui Nguema, Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone and Mamadi Doumbouya of Guinea as well as former leaders and officials also attended the inauguration.
