Separatist Sunday Adeyemo a.k.a Sunday Igboho, has renewed his call for the country Nigeria to be dismantled saying ‘things have fallen apart.’
Sunday Igboho who got into trouble pushing for the creation of Yoruba Nation during the administration of President Buhari and was hounded into exile argued that corruption, crime, insecurity have eaten deep into the fabric of the nation and Nigerians are no longer proud to be called Nigerians.
“Even inside the airport, there is no security. They can steal your belongings inside your bag. All these are the things dissuading people from being proud of the country, Nigeria.
“Things like that make us sad to identify ourselves as Nigerians. This is why we advocate for separation. If Nigeria is not working as a country, it is better we go our separate ways.
“Our (Yoruba) youths will transform Yoruba nation. Most of them have travelled across the world, and they have learned a lot. If they come back to Yoruba land, the knowledge will help them build it and transform the nation like those in Europe,” said Igboho in an online video Thursday.
Meanwhile, Yoruba Self-determination Movement leader, Prof. Banji Akintoye, has warned against attacks on Sunday Igboho by Fulani advocate Prof. Garus Gololo.
“On January 5, 2025, I witnessed a video showing an important Fulani leader, Prof. Garus Gololo, screaming a fierce message against Chief Sunday Igboho, a prominent leader of the Yoruba self-determination struggle,” Prof Akintoye said in a statement.
“Prof. Gololo was, like many other Fulani notables before him, striving might and mane to paint Sunday Igboho as a criminal whom the Federal Government should arrest and detain.
“Prof. Gololo thinks that seeking self-determination for one’s nation is a crime. This highly educated compatriot of ours is grossly wrong in that view. Demanding self-determination for one’s nation is entirely in accordance with the provisions of international law and Nigerian law.”
