Raheem Okoya and his brother Wahab will appear before the Lagos office Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday for allegedly abusing the naira.
A letter signed by EFCC head of Lagos Directorate, Michael Wetkas, instructed the Okoya brothers to report to its Special Operations Team on Awolowo Road by 10 a.m. on Monday, January 13, 2025.
The duo who are sons of billionaire businessman Razaq Okoya, were seen in a trending video spraying the naira as they promoted Raheem’s new single “Credit Alert.” A mobile policeman who was also seen in the video carrying bundles of N1000 notes according to the police authorities have been detained for questioning.
Raheem taking to his X made an apology: “To the Nigerian people, my actions were not intended to cause any trouble or harm.
“My intentions were pure and naive. I ask for your forgiveness and support in this situation, as I had no intention to raise such an alarm. I wasn’t fully aware of the consequences of my action.”
