The grieving mother of Salome Adaidu, the National Youth Service Corps member that was gruesomely murdered last Sunday, has insisted that her daughter was not in any relationship with her killer.
Salome,24, was slain and cut to pieces by Timileyin Ajayi a gospel singer in Papalana, New Karshi in Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State. He was caught while trying to dispose body parts of the lady, whom he claimed was his lover.
But Salome’s mom denied that her daughter was in any kind of relationship with the killer. She suggested that she must have been charmed with voodoo by the Ajayi and lure her to his abode where he slaughtered her mercilessly.
She narrated to BBC pidgin her daughter’s last moments: “I called her on Saturday and asked where she was.
“She told me she was washing clothes. I then asked if she was washing the clothes alone. She said yes and added that the firstborn child was in the living room cleaning it.
“She also told me that once she finished, she planned to go to the place where she does her NYSC training. Maybe it was from that training that this incident happened because the bag she took to the training was the same one the police brought, which I saw on Monday.
“Maybe on her way to the place, she entered a ‘one-chance’, or someone used medicine (voodoo) on her because she doesn’t have friends like that. I want justice for my child.”
Nasarawa State police spokesperson SP Ramhan Nansel, said the case is still being investigated and the suspect would be charged to court. He urged members of the public to come forward with more information on Ajayi.
“Investigation is ongoing and upon conclusion, he will be arraigned in court for prosecution. I want to assure the family and members of the public that this suspect will not be spared if found wanting,” Nansel said.
