Mercurial former Super Eagles captain, Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha would be happy to see the Nigeria Football Federation board dissolved, to make way for genuine individuals who have interest of the game at heart.
Okocha submitted that the national team the Super Eagles will continue to struggle because of the inconsistencies and the politicisation of the country’s football ruling house.
“The Super Eagles may not win any trophy until the current NFF officials are dissolved or reformed,” Okocha told the Guardian.
“Appoint new officials who know more about football, who have interest in football, who loves football, whose lifestyles represent football.
“You can’t appoint politicians to manage football. They will turn it to politics and that’s what is happening today. We have the best players in the world, yet we have no trophy to lay our hands, not because of the players, absolutely not.”
Meanwhile his teammate Garba Lawal has urged all Nigerians to rally round the Super Eagles so that they can make an impact in their remaining World Cup qualifiers.
“This is not about the NFF; it’s about Nigeria qualifying for the World Cup. Everyone must support the team.”
