A High Court sitting in Lafia Nasarawa State Friday ordered that gospel singer Timilehin Ajayi, who was caught with the severed head of Youth Corper Salome Adaidu, be remanded in prison.
Mr. Ajayi was charged to Court by the Nasarawa police on a one count charge of Culpable Homicide Punishable with Death, contrary to Sec 221 of the Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria.
The court ruled that he be kept at the Nasawara Correctional Facility, in Lafia, pending when a date would be fixed for his formal arraignment.
Mr. Ajayi had confessed to the killing of the 24-years-old Salome Adaidu on Sunday January 12, 2025 in Papalana community, New Karu local government area of Nasarawa state. He told interrogators that he killed Miss Adaidu who he claimed to be his girlfriend because she was cheating on him.
However, Miss Adaidu’s family denied that she was in a relationship with Ajayi. Her mother said in an interview with BBC pigin that she believes her daughter was charmed with voodoo into following her murderer to his residence.
