Veteran coach Carlo Ancelotti has debunked reports he is leaving Real Madrid at the end of the season and insists he wants to stay for ‘four more years.’
Report by Spanish outlet Onda Cero had claimed that Ancelotti will walk away from his job at the end of the season despite his contract expiring in 2026. But speaking during a press conference Tuesday, Ancelotti said: “No, I want to be very clear. I won’t set the date for my exit, it will never happen,” said Ancelotti, as quoted by Marca.
“One day, it will happen, but I don’t know when. I’m not going to decide it. It could be tomorrow, in a few games, in one year, or five. Florentino will continue here for four more years, and my target is to match these four years, so we can leave together.”
Ancelotti needs to steer Real Madrid to a win against RB Salzburg in Wednesday’s Champions League to keep alive their slim hopes of automatic qualification for the last 16. They are overwhelming favourites to secure a much-needed victory at the Santiago Bernabeu, despite their struggles in recent weeks.
“On an offensive level we are performing very well, but in defence we must improve a lot. This will be the key to success this season. If we do it, we will fight until the end in all competitions,” said Ancelotti
