The wife of former deputy senate president Ike Ekeweremadu jailed in the UK has been released from prison by the UK authorities.
Beatrice and her husband were clamped into jail after being found guilty of an organ harvesting charge by a UK Old Bailey Court in March 2023. Senator Ekweremadu was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment, his wife and the doctor implicated in the plot to harvest organ from one Obinna Obeta got six years each.
Reports by Vanguard Wednesday said Mrs. Ekweremadu has been released from a United prison and has subsequently returned to Nigeria.
Her return has reportedly sparked celebrations across Enugu State, where supporters and well-wishers were hopeful for the eventual release of her husband. Many have expressed solidarity with the Ekweremadu family, offering prayers for his return in the shortest possible time.
