Super Eagles striker Taiwo Awoniyi has dismissed reports linking him with a move away from Nottingham Forest, pledging that he would stay and win “something special” with the club.
His coach Nuno Espirito Santo who preferred Chris Wood for first team duty had hinted that Awoniyi will stay and fight for his place and on Thursday the former Flying Eagles star buttressed the point saying: “Transfers are part of football, and there will always be speculation.
“But my focus is entirely on Nottingham Forest. This is a team with a lot of potential, and I want to be here to help achieve something special.
I’m not thinking about leaving; I’m focused on how I can contribute more to the success of this club,” he told Nottingham Forest website.
Awoniyi this season had made few starts with the team and has come in from the bench to contribute. He has scored one goal from 17 league appearances.
