The skeletal remains of a 45-year-old pastor, Esere Okilo who was declared missing for 15 months was found in a toilet locked from the inside.
Residents of Jacob Beredugo Street, Ekeki, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State were thrown into bewilderment when the remains of the pastor wearing only a single was found seated on the toilet by his sister on Wednesday.
According to reports by the Punch, she had gone to the house, which belong their family to make inquiries for an accommodation and she pipped through the window of the toilet only to see the gory sight.
Neighbours were bemused since they did not perceive any foul odor from the flat apartment where pastor Okilo lived. His elder brother and his wife occupied the other flat in the building.
Police from the Ekeki Division have arrested the elder brother on suspicion of covering up the mysterious death of Okilo. According to police sources, the skeleton bore signs of formalin, a chemical sprayed on it to mask foul smell.
“Medical staff at the Federal Medical Centre said there are signs that a substance like formalin was sprinkled on the corpse to stop the smell,”
