There is no reprieve for Dr. Ramon Adedoyin who sentenced to death for the killing of a Master’s degree student of Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, Osun State.
His bid to overturn the sentence met a brick wall at the Court of Appeal in Akure, Ondo State. In a ruling Thursday the Appeal Court maintained that the death sentence of Dr. Adedoyin, was properly served by the Osun State High Court which had convicted Adedoyin and sentenced him to death for the murder of Timothy Adegoke.
On November 5, 2021, Mr. Adegoke had lodged at the Hilton Hotels and Resorts in Ile-Ife run by Dr. Adedoyin and when Adegoke did not show up his examination at the OAU Distance Learning Centre, Moro, the next day, his fellow students raised alarm.
Police investigations revealed that Mr. Adegoke was murdered in cold blood at the hotel he was lodged and staff at the hotel pointed at Dr. Adedoyin as the person who orchestrated the killing.
Passing judgement Thursday the Appeal Court stated: “The judgment of the High Court of Osun State stands. Adedoyin’s appeal is dismissed in part. The Court of Appeal held that Adedoyin was properly convicted and sentenced to death.”
