Nigeria once again proved that it is never short of track and field talents after Oluranti Anderson broke the short put world record at the World Schools Games, which ends today in Dubai.
The 10-years-old Anderson from Grange School Lagos heaved 8.80m to erase the previous 7.71m mark. Interestingly, Anderson started track and field in October 2023, she was spotted during an inter house sports by former athlete and now coach Alex Udjoh.
“She is one kid that has huge potentials and we really need to help her reach the world level in the next couple of years,” Udjoh said.
“We started training last October and she has really done well, we look forward to seeing her dominate the throws in the near future.”
