El-Rufai plotting to unseat Tinubu, presidential aide calls out former Kaduna governor

Former Kaduna State governor and All-Progressives Congress party member has been accused of plotting to unseat President Bola Tinubu, because he is not part of his administration.
El-Rufai while speaking in Abuja during a national conference Monday on “strengthening democracy” in Nigeria had knocked his own party saying: “Although I’m a founding member, the party has left me behind. We wanted to build a progressive party that would fight corruption, revive the economy, and restore security for Nigerians.
“That was our goal. But where is the APC now? I no longer recognize it. It’s left me behind. I still believe the primary purpose of political engagement in Nigeria remains to fix the economy, restore security, and fight corruption. But those issues are still unresolved.
“You cannot have illiterates, semi-illiterates, and manipulative people as leaders. That’s why we end up with the poor leadership we have today.”
He noted that the ruling party deviated from its founding mission and would not be able to deliver on its promises to the people.
His words ruffled some feathers at the Presidential Villa and President Tinubu’s special adviser on policy communication Daniel Bwala stated on his X handle Tuesday.
“My Senior brother, if you were to be in the government and cabinet, would you have held and expressed the same position? History is replete with examples. It is a government you participated in its formation, that you now want to unseat,” he wrote.
