Legendary former Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar believes Andre Onana could be Manchester United’s goalkeeper for a long time.
Onana who joined United in 2023 from Inter Milan for a princely €51million has been fingered for some of the club’s misfortune on the field of play. Though he made some good saves, but many have seen him not able to match the record of David de Gea whom he replaced. Onana was brought in by former coach Erick ten Hag.
However, legendary former United goalkeeper Van der Sar has offered his backing to the under-fire 28-year-old. He believes Onana is only likely to get better with time.
“I think that it’s quite early but Andre [Onana] has a fantastic career in front of him,” he said via Oddspedia.
“He’s gaining more experience. He has all the qualities that a goalkeeper needs so I’m sure for the next five to six years he will keep improving.
“He has the right attitude to be the goalkeeper for Man United for a very long time.”
